How much are your shipping charges?

FREE! All of our prices include freight to anywhere in the continental United States. Because we're using specialized furniture carriers, we incur minimum charges for shipments totaling less than 150 lbs. Additional charges will apply on small orders totaling less than 150 lbs (including out of stock items). For this reason, it makes sense to order office chairs, wood bookcases and hutches at the time that you order your office desk. Two drivers will bring your computer desk into your home or office and place it right where you want it. See also Shipping info. Additional delivery charge applies to off shore islands like Nantucket. Some other exceptions apply - call for details.

Is this put-together furniture like I have seen at stores?

No, our sturdy desks are built at the factory using time honored wood furniture construction methods. They come to you just as you see them in our photographs. Our delivery drivers only need to put hutches on top of office desks and attach returns.

How long does it take to get a desk?

The standard delivery time frame for the East Coast is 3 to 5 weeks; 4 to 8 weeks for the West Coast and other states. Fortunately, on average, most East Coast deliveries run every 2 to 4 weeks and West Coast deliveries run every 4 to 6 weeks. Areas near the Canadian border or barrier islands will take longer. Our shipping system is not for those in a rush to receive furniture.

Do you have any stores near me?

Computer Furniture Direct is a mail order company so we do not have stores around the country. We do, however, have a great no-risk offer. When our delivery people bring in your furniture, take a good look at it. If it's not every bit as good as we say it is, simply send it back with them and there is absolutely no charge to you! See our Guarantees page. If you come to Florida, we welcome your visit at our Jacksonville or Tallahassee stores.

What if my computer or printer won't fit in the desk I want?

Some equipment pieces are too large for some of our desks. We provide line drawings that show dimensions on each desk page. This helps you measure your equipment before you purchase. Keep in mind printers may be turned sideways. Many people prefer them this way.

Most of your desks show computers with tower cases. What if my computer has a desktop case?

In many cases, desktop cases can be placed on the adjustable shelf above printer pullout shelves or on the surface of the computer desk. Then you can use the tower compartment to hold software. Many tower compartments come with an adjustable shelf.

What if I'm putting my desk on hardwood floors? 

"Heavy Duty" felt pads are used to prevent your desk from damaging your hardwood floors. You may purchase them at your local hardware store like Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. You will want to purchase enough to place one pad under each corner of the desk. 

Do I pay sales tax on my order?

We only charge tax when we deliver to Florida or North Carolina.

What if my cords aren't long enough?

On many of our office desks the distance between your components is a greater distance than most cords will reach. Extension cords for your keyboard, mouse, monitor and printer are available at your local computer store. See the Dimensions page. 

What if I want to use a protective surface like Plexiglas on my desk?

Our desks really don't need the extra protection but some customers are accustom to using protective covers. If you plan to use any protective covers over your desk (i.e. Plexiglas, glass, etc.) then you will need to put spacers in between the protective cover and the desk top. Wood needs to breath. If the spacers aren't used then the protective cover will adhere and strip the wood. Please call Customer Service for assistance. 

Can desks be customized?

Unfortunately, desks are available only as shown in our photographs. In order to keep prices down, our desks are produced in long runs and customization is just not practical.
